Did you know that Arizona is one of the nation’s top states for retirees as well as snowbirds? Nearly 84,000 winter residents reside in the Phoenix area each year. Phoenix is a draw to snowbirds for its climate, idyllic landscape, scenic splendor and range of activities to participate in. Many residents call Phoenix their “second” home by having ownership of a house in Phoenix and a house somewhere else and split their time between both residences. With this in mind it is important to make your “other” home or winter home just as vital and functional as your primary residence.
Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix acknowledges our snowbird residents and the vital role they play in the community and welcomes them with open arms. This technology allows for added safety in your winter residence when your away. These Palo verde trees are stunning when lit properly
Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix was recently contacted by some homeowners in Mesa, AZ that had some of our lights and also lights from another company that were done wrong. We replaced the incorrect lights and also added some new lights for these customers.
The problem was that the other lights installed were the wrong type of fixtures for the application. They had installed small lights to shine on large, wide canopy trees and also palm trees. We see this quite frequently when someone who isn’t a lighting design expert does and installation for a homeowner. It is crucial to hire a professional from the start so the job is designed and applied correctly. Having it done right from the start will save you a tremendous amount of headache in the future.

Saguaro cactus in all its majestic beauty
The reason these homeowners initially contacted Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix was actually because of a new tree. They had planted a new Saguaro cactus in their yard. The Saguaro cactus, along with being the state flower of Arizona, can grow to a massive 10-12 feet high and a few feet in circumference. The homeowners called us to light the new tree because the existing Palo Verde tree which was lit in their yard was done incorrectly. The fixtures only illuminated a smaller portion of the tree, and did not focus on the beauty and presence of the entire tree as it needed. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix set up a night-time demonstration for these Mesa, AZ homeowners to show them the difference between what they had and what it could be. On the Palo Verde tree for example we used not only a different light from the one that was there, but also a very wide lens. The result was breathtaking and these homeowners hired us to do the tree lighting, and replace a good portion of the existing lighting. We also added some path lighting leading to the fire pit in the backyard and added some architectural lighting to the front to illuminate all their beautiful stonework.

Night-time view of the lighting once completed
As the great author and artist Georgia O’Keeffe once said “ I often lay on that bench looking up into the tree, past the trunk and up into the branches. It was particularly fine at night with the stars above the tree”. Here at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix we believe in providing our customers with a lighting effect, not just a lighting fixture. I think this is the same type of effect this quote speaks of, ethereal and romantic all in one.
If you have problems with your existing lighting or you are not getting the desired effect you had wished for, give Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix a call today. We can set up a night-time demonstration and show you all that your outdoor lighting can be and more.(480) 419 – 4008 or you can email us at olpphoenix@outdoorlights.com

This gorgeous landscape lighting application uses tree lighting to magically bring these palms to life
As a homeowner you put a tremendous amount of time and effort into the care and appearance of your home. After all your home is the single biggest investment most of us will make during our lifetime. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix would like to make sure that your beloved home has as much of an impact in the evening as it does during the day. The addition of landscape lighting to your home can do just the trick.
There are many different reasons to install landscape lighting here are just a few…
- Beauty- adding light to your homes facade or architectural accents can provide a breathtaking effect. Much can be said about illuminating outdoor structures such as pergolas and pathways. Even adding light to lovely landscaping will let you and your visitors enjoy these areas long after the sun goes down.
- Safety- a well-lit home and landscape will deter thieves and give you piece of mind. The safety issue goes much deeper than just crime-prevention. Lighting ensures that as you come up the driveway, or enter the home in the evenings, or even walk down to your pool, you will have enough light to travel to each destination safely.
- Function- Landscape lighting and outdoor lighting extend hours of enjoyment you would otherwise miss because of the onset of night. This is especially true when using an outdoor structure.

there is a light available at
Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix
to fit each scenario perfectly. Whether you are looking for energy-efficient lights such as LED’s or solar, or low voltage lights or even line voltage, we have a light to fit every need.
Outdoor Lighting Perspectives
also has their own line of high quality and beautiful fixtures for every outdoor lighting application.
When considering landscape lighting, fixture placement is key to obtain the correct amount of light at each location you are illuminating. This placement is an art unto itself, as well as choosing the appropriate fixture for each location. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix has years of experience and knowledge of what works best in each setting. We make sure not to allow harsh light to shine directly onto a house or into a window. We work by using depth and width and work to light for effect. You should always be drawn to what is being illuminated and not the fixture. We also make sure to avoid light encroachment. Light encroachment is light that bothers your neighbors or hits you in the eyes.
It is beneficial to use a landscape lighting professional for your lighting design and installation. There are many aspects to consider when choosing a company but certainly the three most important are expertise, quality and value. Here at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix we can provide all of these and so much more. Our goal is to sell you a lighting effect, not a light fixture. A good example of a properly lit entry sign
Here at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix we see many neighborhood entrances that are in need of lighting. We receive calls on a daily basis from homeowners associations and residents that tell us their entry is in need of an overhaul. With that in mind we decided to come up with our list of “top 10′s”, top 10 reasons to consider overhauling the lighting for your community that is….
#1) Your plantings are over growing your lights
#2) Only part of your sign is actually lit, this is common and particularly troublesome for family and friends that are searching for your home in a community named for example “Rose Hill Plantation” and the only letters lit read “O Hi Plant” this is quite confusing.
#3) You can’t even read the name of the community or subdivision at all (refer to #2 but with more confusion).
#4) The fixtures aren’t illuminating the correct areas of the sign.
#5) You can’t see the sign at all!
#6) Your entrance sign doesn’t represent the prestige of the neighborhood at night the way it does during the day.
#7) You are looking to cut back on energy usage to help the environment, going to a greener representation that can influence many aspects of the whole community.
#8) You’re looking to cut power costs.
#9) Homeowners drive past the neighborhood, and have turn around to go back home (Yes, we have seen this happen with poorly lit entrances).
#10) Improve the overall safety of the neighborhood and also make it easy for emergency responders such as police and EMT techs. to find the neighborhood.
This list was compiled to give you an idea of what kind of obstacles can become real problems with a poorly lit entrance. We can change all that and make your entrance more than you ever imagined possible. Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix has covered the subject of entry lighting in past stories. This neighborhood watchtower demands your attention
Here at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix we like to look at ourselves as “all-inclusive” by taking care of all your outdoor lighting needs. We offer residential outdoor lighting for your home, commercial outdoor lighting for your place of business, holiday lighting for all your residential and commercial holiday lighting needs and we also take care of your lighting needs for your subdivision or neighborhood. We can even work hand in hand with your HOA (home owners association).
Recently we have had the opportunity to work closely with several HOA’s in our area to design and install their entrance lighting. One such installation in Gilbert Farmhouse Meadows in Gilbert, AZ, led to a new installation for the neighborhood entry sign. Initially the sign was a 120 line voltage, which was the wrong type of light for this setting. The Line voltage was using too much power and not even get the done properly. The lighting was incorrect because in essence it was just a spotlight. Certain areas were too bright and other were too dark, and you couldn’t even tell what the name of the community was.

One of the types of wash lights we use at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix
Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix installed two 35 watt fixtures which essentially cut their power bill in half. We also installed wash lights, which do an excellent job with stunning effects. We also installed 3 lights on each sign to light the sign as to where you could read the neighborhood’s name clearly. We also installed lights on each side of the entry.

outdoor lighting before
The sign could’ve posed a potential challenge since there was greenery and foliage in front of the sign. We overcame this challenge by pointing the fixture above the landscaping and plantings. The key is to make sure you aren’t dealing with plantings that will get too large and overtake the sign over time. You want to add beauty with the addition of landscaping not turn the entrance into a monument.

Phoenix outdoor sign lighting after new lighting was installed by Outdoor Lighting Perspectives
During our initial night-time demonstration we used the right amount of light to overcome the amount of light the street light put out, so if there is existing lighting we use a little bit more light in order to light up the sign.
Well designed and applied entry lighting makes your neighborhood safer, and easier for your guests to locate and navigate to. Properly designing and installing this type of lighting also gives the area a “higher end” feel to it and can even attract prospective home buyers to you late into dusk.
If you or your HOA are ready to move on up to quality outdoor lighting, give us a call. Right now we are offering 10% off to the members of the community whose HOA use Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix for their entry and sign lighting. The difference is clear. 480) 419 – 4008 or email us @http://phoenix.outdoorlights.com/

Take a look at this before and after picture of this home at night in Surprise, AZ. Believe it or not, the two homes are one and the same. The picture to the right is what the home looks like at night, and the picture to the left is what it could look like at night. Look again, the left and right side of the photo are the same house. The left side has the lights on and the right side has the lights off. Imagine how much more secure your home would be with lights.

Phoenix home before and after outdoor lighting
Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix met with these homeowners to design an outdoor lighting creation to emphasize all the beautiful landscaping on their property. They have a bunch of palm trees in the front yard which they were excited to highlight. They also wanted use path lighting and also illuminate some cactus’.

Phoenix palm tree lighting specialist
Our approach was to use well lights, path lights and spot lights in harmony to create the desired effect. We used three-dimensional designing when we planned the outdoor lighting for these customers. We used the width across the whole property, then we used the depth of the palm trees in the background and foreground, and we made use of the height by using the palms as well. The result, as you can clearly see is nothing less than stunning.
The homeowners loved the outdoor lighting design. We set up a free demonstration at night before they decided to commit to the design, this way they can actually see the effect before they commit. A night-time demonstration is crucial in giving the homeowners a true to life example of how the property will look after we are completed, it also leaves room for open communication if there is anything we need to change before the design is set in stone.
If you are thinking of lighting up the night at your residence, give Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix a call to set up your free night-time demonstration.

Phoenix landscape lighting - Outdoor Lighting Perspectives
Your outdoor lighting system doesn’t have to be grand to make a grand impact. Many people think in order for their outdoor lighting to make a notable difference it has to be done on a grand scale. This simply isn’t the case. Sometimes a handful of carefully planned lights properly executed can make a huge impact on your surroundings. We can also set up your lighting in the initial stages to grow with you.
Many of the transformers available to purchase for the do-it-yourselfer are limited in their capabilities. These transformers usually only fit a set number of lights. This means that if in the future you want to add additional lights, another transformer will also have to be purchased and installed to be able to accommodate the additional lights.

A little can go a long way
Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Phoenix’s lighting system are designed and set up to support expansion. Our transformers are hefty enough to leave room for growth. When we install your lights the fixed costs are already spent and if in the future you want to add a light or two, or three, it is not a big expenditure to allow for that expansion.
We can meet with you and set up a night-time demonstration so you will know those key elements in your landscape or around your home are emphasized. Remember, more is not always better. When outdoor lighting is done properly a few well-placed lights can go a long way.
